Networking Assignment
On March 22nd at 8oclock I attended a Concert at Rain Dogs with Dolphinium Records as the launch of our “A&R Nights”. These nights are aimed to help promote A&R within our label. The bands we saw that night included Hensley, Primary School, Teen Divorce, and EJ Harvey. Overall this event was an incredible experience and It was nice to hear the music that that lives here in Jacksonville. I talk with a few people that night, the first one was Devon. Devon is a future student of Jacksonville University. Devon’s dad works with the bands here in Jacksonville, I forget his actual title; but he has quite a few connections. We continued to elaborate on the bands that performed that night, we talked about the diversity between each band and how we have similar connections through Jacksonville University. We both have met Daniel Hubert (the bassest of Primary School and Teen Divorce) and Chris Smith (The drummer of Primary School). As Dolphinium we had a short discussion with Hensley, we explained to them how we are a student ran record label and we also complimented them on the great work they were doing. I also had a discussion with Daniel Hubert on how Primary School branched out from the band Bobby Kid and how they were
a major influence for them.
Overall it was a great night, full of great music. The music that night was mostly Alternative and Indie. This was a great networking opportunity for not only me but for Dolphinium Records as a whole. We hope to continue to branch out and gain more connections through our work.
